Through Her Lens

we were thrilled to host our photography exhibition - through her lens

Tomorrow’s Women were proud to celebrate the launch of a powerful new photography exhibition, Through Her Lens, which took place on 10th December at Future Yard, Birkenhead.

The exhibition is a bold, immersive, and emotionally charged exploration of stalking and harassment, told exclusively through the lenses of women who have experienced it.

Through Her Lens used participatory photography as a means of empowerment and awareness. Women of Tomorrow’s Women were given simple cameras and asked to capture their experiences of stalking & harassment, and their general experiences of being women. Each image, captured by women with lived experience, offers a raw and unfiltered window into the emotional, psychological, and physical toll of being watched, followed, and controlled. These striking visual narratives aim to challenge the viewer to reflect on the pervasive nature of stalking in society—and the silence that often surrounds it.

The exhibition used immersive effects in order to effectively capture the fear and isolation that women face on an everyday basis, with lights, sounds and video to allow the viewer to step foot into the shoes of women and experience these unsettling, but all too common experiences.

The exhibition encouraged and sparked interesting conversations, unveiling how many women all face the same fears and experiences, and a call to action for women to feel safer existing in the world.

Feedback from the event

“Such a powerful exhibit… proud of all the women who are going through this daily. More education, patrols and CCTV are sadly needed until change is made”

“You have produced a fantastic exhibition. I don’t go out at night or when it gets dark. I don’t know who’s the good guy or who’s the bade guy so it’s better to trust no one”

“This is genuinely so powerful and moving. Having the audio somehow perfectly showcases the fear and worry, but paired with the images and stories it shows I’m not alone and none of us are. Thank you for showcasing this, it means a lot of us. Truly.”

“Fantastic event, helping raise awareness. Hopefully this will start more conversations. Well done Kate & Emma”

“Very powerful… we must talk, talk, talk. Conversations need to be had. Girls in school, mothers in playgroups. Wherever women gather, talk”

“I really enjoyed the experience, it was so interesting. I hope oters will have a similar experience and will be able to start more conversations surrounding the subject”
