The importance of women’s centres
Our CEO Karen recently wrote an article for the Women in Prison magazine surrounding the importance of women’s centres.
There are moments in my role as CEO of Tomorrow's Women that remind me exactly why women's centres matter so much. Whether it's seeing a woman walk through our doors for the first time, often carrying the weight of significant challenges, or watching her grow in confidence and begin to see new possibilities for her future, I am constantly inspired by the resilience and strength of the women we support.
Having worked alongside women for many years, I have seen first-hand the difference that a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment can make. Women's centres are often a lifeline, providing not only practical help but also the opportunity for women to feel heard, valued, and empowered. They create spaces where women can rebuild their confidence, develop new skills, and take positive steps towards the future they want for themselves and their families.
When I was invited to write an article for 'Still I Rise', I wanted to use the opportunity to shine a light on the vital role that women's centres play and to share some of what makes Tomorrow's Women such a special place. At a time when many women are facing increasing pressures and complex challenges, it is more important than ever that these services are recognised, valued, and supported.
I hope this article offers an insight into the impact of women's centres and the incredible journeys of the women who engage with them. It is a privilege to be part of that journey, and I am proud every day of the work that happens at Tomorrow's Women.
