Through Her Lens photography exhibition
Tomorrow’s Women were proud to celebrate the launch of a powerful new photography exhibition, Through Her Lens, which took place on 10th December at Future Yard, Birkenhead.
The exhibition is a bold, immersive, and emotionally charged exploration of stalking and harassment, told exclusively through the lenses of women who have experienced it.
Through Her Lens used participatory photography as a means of empowerment and awareness. Women of Tomorrow’s Women were given simple cameras and asked to capture their experiences of stalking & harassment, and their general experiences of being women. Each image, captured by women with lived experience, offers a raw and unfiltered window into the emotional, psychological, and physical toll of being watched, followed, and controlled. These striking visual narratives aim to challenge the viewer to reflect on the pervasive nature of stalking in society—and the silence that often surrounds it.
The exhibition used immersive effects in order to effectively capture the fear and isolation that women face on an everyday basis, with lights, sounds and video to allow the viewer to step foot into the shoes of women and experience these unsettling, but all too common experiences.
The exhibition encouraged and sparked interesting conversations, unveiling how many women all face the same fears and experiences, and a call to action for women to feel safer existing in the world.
